How to properly prepare documents for a Schengen visa

When going on a trip, or visiting relatives or friends in the Schengen zone, special attention should be paid to the requirements for the preparation of documents. An incorrectly taken photo or an incompletely designed invitation can be the reason for refusal, or create extra trouble. Carefully study all the rules and advice in order to issue all the documents without any obstacles.

• QUESTIONNAIRE

The questionnaire for obtaining a Schengen visa is filled out in English or the national language (Latin letters) with the applicant's personal signature.

• PASSPORT

The passport must have appropriate signatures and a validity period of at least 3 months after the expiration of the visa. The passport is handed over to the embassy without covers - in its clean form. If you submit a blank passport (if you have a previous passport), make photocopies of the pages of the old passport with Schengen visas.

• PHOTO

One color photo with a clear and clean image is required for processing documents for a visa to the Schengen zone. It is ordered in a size of 3.5 × 4.5 on high-quality paper with a light background. The photograph must be taken no more than six months before submitting the documents so that the appearance can be identified. For example, if you changed your haircut, hair color, etc.

The face should occupy 70-80% of the photo - from the top of the shoulders to the top of the head. The applicant must look straight ahead, with his mouth closed.

It is not allowed to be in the photo in a headdress and the hair should not cover the face. If the photo is taken in a headdress (for religious reasons), the face should be without shadows with clear lines of the forehead, chin and cheeks.

• POINTS FOR PHOTOS

If the Schengen visa applicant constantly wears glasses, the glasses in the photo must be non-darkened without any glare. The frame should not cover the eyes.

• INSURANCE

For a trip to the countries of the Schengen agreement, a tourist will need medical insurance in the amount of 30,000 euros for the entire period of the trip. It is especially important to take out insurance if you plan to engage in extreme sports or travel with children, as medical care in Europe can be very expensive.

• MONEY

To prove the applicant's ability to pay for the trip and all related expenses, the following may be required:

• Availability of travel checks.
• Bank account statement.
• Invitation with copy.
• Credit cards with bank statements about available funds.

• CERTIFICATE FROM THE PLACE OF WORK/STUDY

To submit documents for a Schengen visa, it is necessary to submit a certificate of employment on a special form. The title of the position, salary and work experience are indicated here. Private entrepreneurs submit a copy of the document on the registration of a legal entity or individual and a certificate of presence in the TIN list. A certificate from the place of study is required from students. If the time of the trip falls on the time of being busy, then you need to give permission to be absent from the pairs.

• DOCUMENTS FOR MINORS

Если несовершеннолетний отправляется в поездку с одним из родителей, или один, нужно предоставить в посольство копию согласия опекуна, или невыезжающего родителя на поездку. Если по определенным причинам, такое соглашение получить невозможно, необходимо предоставить соответствующие документы (справка родителя-одиночки, и т.д).

• ЦЕНА

Сумма консульского сбора для получения Шенгенской визы составляет 35 евро для граждан Украины.

• ТУРИСТИЧЕСКИЕ ПОЕЗДКИ

Для подачи документов на Шенгенскую визу в целях туризма, в посольство необходимо предоставить оригинал и копии транспортных билетов, подтверждение брони в отеле, или справку от турфирмы о бронировании жилья.

• ПОЕЗДКИ ПО ПРИГЛАШЕНИЮ

Если вы собираетесь в гости к друзьям, или родственникам за границей, в одну из стран Шенгенского соглашения, вам потребуется предоставить оригинал и копию приглашения. В письме-приглашении должно упоминаться:

1. Фамилия, имя, контакты (телефонный номер, адрес) приглашающей стороны.
2. Фамилия, имя, данные паспорта, дата рождения и адрес приглашенной стороны.
3. Данные о родстве. Если вы едете в гости к друзьям и знакомым, нужно предоставить доказательства, что вы раньше встречались лично (фотографии, и т.д)
4. Данные о стороне, которая берет на себя финансовые расходы.

Официальное приглашение заверяется нотариусом. В посольство с приглашением подается копия паспорта (только первая страница) приглашающего лица, а также копия вида на жительство (если у приглашающего нет гражданства одной из стран Евросоюза).

If you are going to visit friends or relatives abroad, in one of the countries of the Schengen agreement, you will need to provide the original and a copy of the invitation. The letter of invitation should mention:

1. Last name, first name, contacts (phone number, address) of the inviting party.
2. Surname, first name, passport data, date of birth and address of the invited party.
3. Relationship data. If you are visiting friends and acquaintances, you must provide evidence that you have met in person before (photos, etc.)
4. Data about the party that assumes the financial expenses.

The official invitation is notarized. A copy of the passport (only the first page) of the inviting person, as well as a copy of the residence permit (if the inviting person does not have the citizenship of one of the EU countries) is submitted to the embassy with the invitation.
